Visit & Research

MISSA is available for use by researchers, students, educators, and other visitors by appointment.

Planning a visit

Please contact the Herbarium Director in advance to arrange access. Researchers planning extensive work with the collection are encouraged to describe the taxa, geographic areas, or specimen groups they wish to examine when requesting an appointment.

Using the collection

Visitors are expected to handle specimens carefully and follow MISSA collection-use procedures. A comprehensive MISSA Herbarium Collection Use Protocol is currently being developed. Until that protocol is posted, please contact the Herbarium Director with questions concerning specimen handling, annotations, photography, sampling, or other research activities.

Destructive sampling requires prior approval. No plant material may be removed from a specimen without authorization from MISSA.
